Mercedes 3 tonne truck
The primary tactical trucks of the Wehrmacht were the 3 tonne class of vehicle. Amongst these were the Daimler-Benz L3000 A & S series of diesel powered vehicles. These vehicles were produced from 1939 through to 1944 (a total of 27,668 were made in both the A and S variants). The 4 wheel drive model (A - allrad) was dropped in 1942, however. In 1944, production was halted in favour of the petrol engine Opel Blitz as it was easier to maintain and started better in cold conditions.
This vehicle is currently being converted to represent a Kfz 61 radio truck which will be equipped with Fu11 SE 100 radio equipment. It is anticipated this will be complete in mid 2012.
