This was a set of 12 boxes which contained all the equipment required by a Hauptverbandplatz. The boxes themselves were made of a metal-wood-metal sandwich, which meant they were resistant to high levels of humidity, but they were not hermitically sealed. In detail, the boxes contained:

Wound stitching items (linen thread, catgut and needles)

Surgical instruments (sammelbesteck and hauptbesteck)
Clothing for surgery
Dispensing apparatus
Tetanus serum
Sphygmomanometer (blood pressure measuring apparatus)
Tool box for carrying out basic repairs and adjustments to equipment
Boxes 3 and 4
Pharmacological components (ampoules and pills)
Serums for tetanus, diphtheria, gas edema and peritonitis
Sterile dressings
Plaster
Sterile burn dressings
Various ointments
Boxes 5, 6, 7 and 8
Sterile and non-sterile pads, cotton wool and gauzes for wound dressings
Waterproof dressings
Boxes 9 and 10
Field dressings for immediate wound treatment on newly arrived casualties
Collapsible operating table
Ward coats for doctors and orderlies
Lostatin tablets

Each box had splints held in the lid. There were 3 types – cardboard, wire ladder and aluminium.
