what do we offer?

We offer a wide range of services, from large scale battle re-enactments to individual first person interpretation. Each event we undertake is unique and we specifically tailor what we offer to the site, the budget and type of event. The Association is, effectively, a 'one stop shop'  - you will only deal with one person who will co-ordinate all the living history requirements of your event.

We have recently undertaken successful high profile events for the National Trust, English Heritage, HM Royal Armouries, EventPlan Ltd,  Bovington Tank Museum and The Liverpool Military Show amongst many others.

All risk assessing and other health & safety documentation is done in house, and is specific to the event. We also work closely with the armourer to ensure all the legalities regarding the use of firearms are correctly discharged. We have public liability insurance for £5 million, underwritten by Hiscox Insurance Company Ltd.

living history

Our main aim is education; we do not claim that our displays are 100% accurate – we are providing a snapshot of how things may have been based on photographs, documentary evidence and interviews with  veterans. Rather than seeing a number of items displayed on shelves, as one may do in a museum, visitors can see the items in an authentic setting; and in some cases still working. We are one of the few groups who openly invite members of the public into the displays so they can look closely at the equipment and get an idea of things firsthand.

For our members, it allows them to pass on their enthusiasm, interest and knowledge to other interested people, as well as giving them an insight of what daily life may have been like for the WW2 soldier.

The living history exhibit comprises German, American and British displays or weapons, equipment, tentage and vehicles. We are able to adapt to work with an open field, woodland or buildings with ease; though in our experience a woodland area where small trenches can be dug works best.

battles

We have over 30 years experience in planning and executing battle re-enactments. We strive to make the display as dynamic and action packed as possible, based on the budget.

We can provide smaller displays such as firepower demonstrations and skirmishes, to larger battle recreations augmented by the use of automatic weapons, vehicles,  and spectacular pyrotechnics.

The battles typically last for between 20-30 minutes and form an exciting highlight to a days timetable.

firearms

We are able to source, at competitive rates, fully automatic weapons from a Home Office approved armourer (subject to a licence being granted by the local constabulary). Further details of this are available on request.

pyrotechnics

We have our own in house pyrotechnics team who possess all the necessary licences to acquire and make charges to produce a variety of effects. They have many years experience of working with explosives and theatrical effects in a safe and professional manner, so much so they were trusted to 'blow up' the world's only fully restored and operational Tiger tank at Bovington Tank Museum!

Safety is of paramount importance and all activities are fully risk assessed and closely monitored to ensure the well being of the general public and of our members.

We are able to operate on any surface, without causing damage to the ground.
